Why VMCL

Why VMCL?

VMCL Ltd has been providing training courses since 1993, and the company has been involved in the Drink-Drive Rehabilitation Scheme since its introduction. To date, in excess of 211,000 people have been referred to our Company by the Courts for training.  VMCL has adopted a policy of continual improvement to ensure that it delivers the highest quality courses and that the Scheme continues to reduce the drink driving re-offend rate.

Based in Royal Wootton Bassett, VMCL provides training courses in over 150 locations. The company is dedicated to quality. The implementation of accumulated skills and knowledge enables VMCL to provide effective assistance to participants of the Drink Drive Rehabilitation Scheme.

Quality Control

To maintain the highest levels of service and training, our processes have been formalised into a Quality Management System, which complies with the requirements of BS EN ISO 9001, the internationally recognised quality standard. This accreditation applies to the delivery and updating of the course, recruitment, training, venue identification and monitoring, tutor performance and administration procedures. Our success in achieving BS EN ISO 9001 accreditation for the Drink Drive Rehabilitation Scheme guarantees the quality of our training as we have to demonstrate continual improvement to maintain our accreditation. VMCL were the first approved training provider to obtain ISO 9001 accreditation.

Obtaining certification to the requirements of international management standards is therefore recognised as a benchmark for achieving business excellence and is a tried and tested way of improving company quality and performance.

BS EN ISO 9001 accreditation provides a wide range of benefits. They include:

  • Providing an effective tool for controlling and improving business practices
  • Minimising risks by adherence to agreed procedures
  • Increasing customer confidence by seeking continual improvement
  • Regular examination by external auditors to maintain accreditation

In effect, ISO accreditation confirms to the Courts, offenders and others, that we can meet their needs and expectations.  In addition, our accreditation body is required to meet their own established international standards and are audited on a regular basis to ensure that these standards are maintained.

Our unique Course Completion Calculator for use by the Courts is a product of the continual improvement process.

Drivier and Vehicle Standards Agency Guidelines

The procedure for operating the Rehabilitation Scheme is set out in sections 34A to 34C of the Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988.  To assist those involved with the Scheme, or who come into contact with drink drive offenders, the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) has produced a comprehensive set of guidelines.

The guidelines identify good practice for course organisers and seek to promote consistent procedures in Courts throughout England and Scotland.  They have been issued by the DVSA in conjunction with the Department for Transport and the Scottish Executive.

A full copy of the guidelines can be found on the gov.uk Web site.  To access them, simply click on the following link:
